CHARISMATIC PRAYER
The Charismatic Prayer group had a very humble beginning, as it started in a rented house of a devout couple; they initially met to pray the Rosary and reflect on the Word of God. In course of time, more members joined the group for the weekly spiritual activity. The venue for these meetings was never fixed; as members increased the Sisters of Mary of the Poor, nuns living adjacent to the church were approached, who gladly allowed them to use the convent premises for the prayer. The prayer meetings were held on Fridays and the group also started having night vigils.
As the numbers began to swell this group sought permission from the then Parish Priest of Holy Rood, Reverend Monsignor Richard Twomey, who allowed them to use the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The group gradually grew and was eventually moved into the main body of the church; however, the core group and the intercessory group continued to meet at the convent regularly for the meetings and evaluations. This group is now guided by the Parish Priest Rev. Lucas Rodrigues Sfx. as a spiritual guide who always tries to infuse more energy and sanctity into the group.
